Straw Lodge is located on Barrow's vineyard in the heart of Marlborough's Wairau Valley wine region. Here the soils of the Wairau River terraces, Marlborough's long dry summers, cool nights and careful vineyard management combine to create the ideal conditions for the production of quality Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir grapes that retain the vibrant varietal flavours that make New Zealand wines so distinctive. Grown for the Churton label the Barrow's grapes capture the intensity of flavour and aroma that are the hallmark of the best of Marlborough's fruit. "A combination of Old World complexity and drinkability and New World fruit quality and control"

Guests are welcome to wander through the vineyard and your hosts are happy to explain the workings of the vineyard year. Guests also have the opportunity to taste the vineyard's wine during a complimentary tasting of the wine enjoyed with a platter during their stay. The wine is also available for purchase. Being a working vineyard there are times of the year when machinery working, bird scaring and frost control measures may be audible. Please enquire if this could be a problem to you.
